POLITICAL PREFERENCE deliberations are usually held behind closed doors and later downplayed in public. But not this year.
The Opposition leader, Tony Abbott, has announced the Coalition will preference Labor ahead of the Greens in all Lower House seats, which should make it harder for the Greens to be elected in seats like Melbourne, Syndey and Grayndler.
Sydney's influential Daily Telegraph used its font page to declare Mr Abbott a 'Green slayer'.
University of Melbourne Public Policy Fellow Nicholas Reece joined the ABC's The Drum to discuss the significance of this move.
